 1969 Z28 Camaro RS

Once an old drag car, this is now getting a full restoration.  Owner purchased it in the

1980's and is now ready to restore it back to the way it came.  Great color, real 4-speed

car. The RS option makes this a valuable piece when completed.

Disassembly has started and while this car is very solid, the previous repairs done to the

quarters leave us no choice but to replace them. Floor pans are exceptionally nice. It is

refreshing to do a car in this condition rather than one that needs so much sheet metal

and frame repair.

New quarters and trunk floor are installed. Sheet metal repairs to the original doors

and fenders are complete. Now the car will be completely stripped to bare metal, epoxy

primed and then body work begins. Much time is invested in the ordering research

of the correct replacement parts. These cars are very popular so there are many sources

for purchasing parts.

Body is smooth and primed then block sanded to lazer straight status.  It is then reprimed

and sanded with 500 before paint.  We are ready to start putting color on this car after

many hours of block and hand sanding.

Painting went well and was done in steps. The under carriage and subframe were painted

Chassis Black. The door jams of the car and any other area except for the outside

sheetmetal was painted body color. Then the body was assembled and painted all

together. Assembly starts with a fresh 12 bolt rearend & all new front suspension

components. The owner wanted to change a few things to make the car more driver

friendly so a power rack and pinion was installed. Along with a new Classic Air a/c

system.
