Rare 1972 Ford Mach 1 Mustang

 

Restoration went well, nice solid car. Painted the original gold turned out very

well. Now the assembly starts. Engine and transmission are all painted and

ready to go back in. Nice thing about working on Mustangs is that there are

many parts available. That makes our job much easier. Restoring or refurbishing

original parts is very time consuming and costly. Usually you can figure when

you have painted body you are now half done with the project. Interior needed

to be totally restored or replaced as this car sat in a damp garage for years. As it

deteroited most of the components, the gauges were sent off to be restored. All

of the gauges and factory tach are functioning properly. The factory steering

wheel, which is not reproduced, has been replaced with an aftermarket wood

wheel like the Shelby’s had. Assembly work is very time consuming as you

have to be very careful and protect the new paint. Interiors are the most time

consuming due to the many parts and components involved. Many of the

reproduction parts produced today don’t just fall into place. We feel the quality

control on some parts is minimal but sometimes you have no other choice. The

car is about 95% complete. When finished this car will be test driven making

sure it runs, drives and handles better than a new one. We want our customers

to feel that they can get into their cars and drive them anywhere they want to go.

Now completed & delivered to the owner, we are very pleased with the final

product. As we believe the owner is also. I feel we exceded her expections.
